About
Givat Olga

Founded in 1949 along the Mediterranean coastline, Givat Olga has grown into the largest neighborhood in Hadera, the town marking the half-way point between Tel Aviv and Haifa.

During its early years, Givat Olga was settled mainly by immigrants from North Africa, all housed in transit camps. The neighborhood has since undergone many demographic changes, absorbing numerous new immigrants from the Former Soviet Union, Ethiopia and the Caucasus.

Today, over a third of Givat Olga’s 12,000 residents are new immigrants. Despite its attractive seaside location, the neighborhood has not yet overcome its disadvantaged beginnings, mainly due to the fact that it has never had the luxury of feeling "settled", but rather has had to continually absorb and assist new populations to begin their Israeli experience.

The location of the Technoda is therefore intentional: to offer the best of scientific and technological education to those for whom it is least available.
